Wildlife Report from Titusville

Hello everyone,

We just came home today after our week in the country and I am taking over the keyboard to report on some of the interesting stuff we did while we were there. We just love the country because we get to run around the big yard we have and search for all the good smells that are there. We knew the deer had been there while we were gone because they left behind lots off little piles of doo doo for us to smell. And one morning we got up and looked out the side window to find them over at our salt lick.

Look at the 3 of them just standing there acting like they own the place. I mean, really, if Dewey would have seen them, he would have gone nuts and they would have gone on their way. So Mom didn't let him see them.

And here's a better shot of the 3 deer and the salt lick. I bet now that we are gone again, they are back there every day.
Now my Mom was really busy working on her rock gardens and when she picks up rocks to rearrange them, she sometimes sees snakes under the rocks. Mom sure is afraid of snakes but I always try to help her out by taking care of them so that they don't scare her anymore. I helped her get rid of two of them. How do I do that? When she calls me, "Snake, Asta, snake!!!!!", I come running and grab the snake and shake it and shake it and shake it. The snake usually falls apart and then I get to show it to Dewey and Toby and we all get to roll on it. Do you see the snake by my feet? He was already soundly shaken and pretty well dead and is upside down.
Mom picked him up on the rock so you could get a better idea of what a monster he was before I got to him with my shaking technique. That's his underside you are looking at. It's a good thing I help my Mom cause she would really be afraid to work in her garden.
We got my Mom a little help with her mind and we have lots more to show you but that will be later on in the week.

We hope that all the Moms out there had a really great Mother's Day. I know that I did.....I spent it with my Mom and with my little boy child, Dewey. And I guess I should also mention that Toby, the red-headed step-child of mine was also around for the occasion. It is aways a great day when you spend it with family.

See you all later...

Asta Marie, always a Mother, Reportin'........

My Mom saw the title of this post and got all excited - woulda thought I said cookie or car ride! Our other house with the real big big yard is in Mims which is right next to Titusville. I KNOW she was thinking WFT Meetup - until she realized it wasn't our Titusville.....

My snakes are all black. I was trying to get one once that had a bright collor around its neck but Daddy was hollering at me so much I stopped. Seems it was poisonous!!!

That snake is very scary looking! It's a good thing you took care of it for your mom! Our mom is only afraid of 4 kinds of snakes...big ones, little ones, live ones and dead ones!

Asta Marie,

Phew!! That snake picture is enough to give me the willies. You are such a hero!!

Years ago, we had a green snake living under our deck, but that was way before my time. I'm glad that I never see him.

Your sons are smart not to mess with you. Anyone who can kill a snake like you do deserves tons of respect. Way to go!!

Welcome back! Glad you are home. Missed ya.

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

I showed a pygmy rattlesnake to My Boy once, he chopped it so hard with a rake that he even buried it when he was done. I didn't get to roll on that one.

Blimey you killed a snake Asta Marie...how brave. We have lots of snakes in Australia but most are poisonous.
Sounds like you had a great mothers day with your family.

Wow... You must be pretty good at saving your human Mom from snakes! Do the snakes taste good? I rolled in a dead snake once, but that was on the other side of the country... There's no snakes over here...

Great report Asta Marie. Like our wirey pal and fellow South Floridian, we got really excited when we saw the title of your post 'cause Titusville is not too far from us -- comparatively speaking!!

We're not too big on snakes -- or at least our Mom isn't We don't know how we'd react since we've never seen one.

Anyway, glad you had a cool country experience!

Wirey woofs!!!

Oh our dawgness,
We get snakes too! Mama won't let us grab them though. The ones are the normal garder snakes, but we also get big bull snakes & big brown snakes. The brown snakes can bite you & make your blog NOT clot. Ewwwwwwwh! We're glad you get to attack those nasty things. Have a great week.
