A Birds Eye View

Wow, exciting things are just happening all over the place lately. It seems like at least the rains have stopped in the Midwest, but sadly the flooding hasn't. Here's hopin' that all our pals along the way are not in the path of the flood waters.

But, in Blogland, I have been given a great honor by two of my newest friends, Abby in New York and Oorvi, in New Delhi. They have both passed on the "Daily Blogger Award" ta me, Dewey Dewster, little boy child of Asta Marie, WFT. Why, I'm paws-a-tively flattered at such an honor from two such distinguished bloggers. Thank you both and I hope that I can live up to my elevated stature in the blog world.

Now that my thinkin' cap has been fully charged, I thought ya might be a bit interested in what's been happening over at our house in the "Burgh" this week............

Early yesterday morning, we heard a real commotion outside our house....lotsa noise with big machinery stuff movin' on inta our driveway....the nerve of it all.

So we ran ta the front door ta have a look-see at what all the commotion was about.

Wow, a monster with a big metal mouth had positioned himself at the top of our driveway and was guardin' it with steely determination.....

He took a big bite outta the place where our driveway retainin' wall useta be...'n all that was left was a big hole....no more wall...'n lottsa dirt everywhere....

But among all the dirt 'n grime 'n tools, Gram's flowers are bloomin' right pretty...cause it's that time of year...pretty soon officially the first day of summer 'round here...don't the day lillies just look beautiful with their yellow faces searchin' fer the sun?

'N the oriental lillies are bustin' out all over too...watch out fer that rake, lillies.....

Gram has so many flowers bloomin' right now that every day there's somethin' new ta look at 'n sniff...if yer not inta butt sniffin' like we are.....

Now the clematis vine that is growin' up the front lamp post is especially pretty this year...'n the dreaded clematis wilt hasn't touched even one leaf yet....paws crossed fer the rest of the season....

The foxglove's are startin' ta open up their little bells...ya would think that we'd see a hummer hangin' around here beak dippin' in the flowers, but we only see those at the cottage.

Now that steel monster is back taday....'n the guys that brought 'em are too. We shall have ta see what they are doin' with that big hole they dug yesterday. So stop back again, 'n after we find out what they're puttin' in the hole (do ya think they're makin' us an Earthdog tunnel?), we''ll be sure ta tell ya......the suspense is killin'' us......

Dewey - gee, what an award pal!! Pawsome. Daily blogging, sigh, if only my Mom was that smart and obedient.

That steel monster DOES look like it's digging your own earth dog tunnel for a giant size rat or maybe it's a big bunny tunnel?????

Wagging, Eric x

That's it Dewey!
The big steel thing is making a bit Earthdog tunnel! YOu are so smart! Surely a fancy tunnel like that will have some fancy furry creatures at the end - what do you think?!

Congratulations on your award. Well deserved!

I'm glad you're keeping an eye on those hole-diggers out there, Dewey. A hole of that magnitude needs some supervision from a pro like you. Can't have any half-hearted attempts at digging, no sirree. No telling what kind of mess they might make of Gram's flowers if you're not looking after things. Keep us posted!

Happy Tails,
William Tell

If you've seen our blog -- which we know you have -- you know how much our Mom loves flowers. And as a former Pennsylvanian, she adores the flowers you just included on your post. Foxglove, clematis, lilies ... she's envious.

Hope you terriers are staying cool and safe. That big metal monster foes not look too friendly@@@

Wirey woofs,

Jake and Just Harry
