Catchin' Up on News........

Hi every Bloggie....

A lot has happened the past week or so and I finally got Gram ta sit down fer a spell so she could help us tell ya all about it.

Last Saturday and Sunday were the Earthdog tests and my Mom was entered inta Senior Earthdog cause she got her Junior title last year. 'N I was entered inta Junior Earthdog again cause last year I didn't do nothin' last year....nope, not a thing....had ta take the test all over again.....nerve wrackin' fer sure.....

So off we went on Saturday on the Pa. Turnpike ta get ta Woodside......'n guess what happened???? Just as we got onta the turnpike, the car got sick....it wouldn't go....'n this is what happened ta us.....

Can ya imagine us there in the car all by our lonesome....wonderin' if we were gonna get ta Woodside alive while the car is goin' down the road without anyone at the wheel.....scary.....yes siree.... downright scary fer sure.... (it was a transmission collant hose that broke, scary but not fatal)

We had ta call brother Scott ta pick us up at the car dealer where the car was towed and take us ta our house ta get the other car 'n then we were back on the road on the way ta Donegal. Finally we arrived at Woodside just in time fer the tests.

Gram was pretty busy since we were late gettin' there 'n she didn't have time ta take any more pictures cause my test place was different from my Mom's 'n she had ta run back 'n forth....

Now I wanna tell ya that it was really hot both Saturday and Sunday and they had little kiddie pools set up so the doggies could cool off cause chasin' rats in a tunnel is hard work. This is me in our pool at the cottage but ya get the idea........

Now before I tell ya what happened those 2 days, just remember that I did tell ya that my Mom is a better earthdog than I am and so ya sure won't be surprised ta see what she got last Saturday and Sunday.....

Those 2 ribbons are fer Senior Earthdog.....ya have ta pass the Senior Earthdog test 3 times so my Mom has ta pass it one more time ta get 'er Senior Earthdog title. But see how many ribbons she already has......sheesh.....looks like a friggin' monument doesn't it?????
I can tell ya none of those ribbons are fer me......

Why, ya may ask ????

Well, because I did the same thin' this year that I did last year......

What's that ????

Why, nothin'....not a thing...nada.....I laid a bunch of eggs......I was afraid of the earthdog judge...'n I didn't want ta go inta the tunnel when the judge was at the end of it. Even more frightenin' is the fact that the stop watch they use makes a noise that sounds like the warnin' beep on our electric fence collars....'n once I heard that I wanted outta there pronto........scat man Dewey.......

Gram says I need a new name.....can't use Dewey Dewster anymore....nope....need ta be called Dewey the Dudd or Dewey the Dunce........got me a dunce cap which I thought was rather stylish....don't ya think ????? But I wanted ta know what a dunce was so I got on Gram's computer 'n googled it ta see what kinda guy I was gonna be from now on.....

DUNCE

Dunce
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dunce is a person incapable of learning.

The word is derived from the name of the great Scholastic theologian and philosopher John Duns Scotus, whose works on logic, theology and philosophy were accepted textbooks in the universities from the 14th century. Duns or Dunsman was a name applied by early opponents to the followers of Duns Scotus, who were less disparagingly called the Scotists. Hence the term came to refer to anyone devoted to sophistry in their argumentation. When, in the 16th century, the Scotists obstinately opposed the new learning (i.e., the English Renaissance), the term duns or dunce became, in the mouths of the humanists and reformers, a term of abuse, a synonym for one incapable of scholarship. Dunces are often comedically shown wearing paper cone hats, known as dunce caps, with the word "dunce" or "dumb", or simply a capitalized "D" on them. Schoolchildren were sometimes compelled to wear a dunce cap and to sit in a stool in the corner as a form of humiliating punishment for misbehaving or for failing to demonstrate that they had properly performed their studies.

Sheesh, It sounds like I'm not ever gonna learn how ta go inta the tunnel while that judge is sittin' there.

I sure don't want ta be Dewey the dunce....nope....no siree....not in a million years.

What can I do so that I'm not afraid of the earthdog judge ????? HELP me guys.....I can't let my Mom make me look like a schmuck here........

One last thing......Pap 'n Gram took Parker 'n my fur Dad, Fred....'n my fur brother George down ta the playground by their house......do ya think we all look alike ??? Do I favor my Dad more than my bro ????? My Dad is the one on the right....

Well, I guess I better start searchin the web on ways ta be more like my Mom so I can get some ribbons like hers......now what key-word search do I use fer that??????

This is Dewey the Dunce reportin' on earthdog ribbons, our sick car.. 'n my new name....

Have a great week everyone !!!!!!!

Oh dear, Dewey the Dunce, I mean Dewey Dewster,

When I first saw that car, I thought that you, your mom, or Toby were driving. Who is that in the driver's seat?

I really don't know what to tell you about earthdog since I have never been in any earthdog competitions. If I were, I'd probably do exactly what you did. Nothing. Hehehe... That's for me. Nothing. Who wants to be running in tunnels chasing rats? Not me. I'd rather have a nice seat in the shade and a tall cold drink. If you agree with me, then you are not a dunce, Dewey.

Congratulations to your mom, Asta Marie, on all her ribbons. She sure is terrific and you should be proud to be her son. (I can see why you have problems living up to her, Dewey. It's gotta be hard on ya.)

That was a great picture of all the guys at the end. Grandpap and grandson and father and son. From the back, you look just like your dogdad, Fred. It's hard to tell you apart.

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

Not every doggie is a champion at Earth Dog. We all have our own skill set. Maybe you can find yours?

I recall your mom practices a lot with critters around your estate. Maybe you could do the same.

I was scared looking at your car on the flying carpet. Quite a ride you must have had, huh?

Hi Dewey,

Sorry to hear about your car...hope it gets well soon! Congrats to your Mom for winning those awesome ribbons! I'm sure you'll get there soon enough...*wink* I don't think we have the Earthdog Trials here in Malaysia...it does sound so cool to be chasing after rats and stuff! *grins*

Hope you had a great weekend!

Well, congrats to Asta for winning her newest awards. Well done.

Now, for you Dewey, you are NOT a dunce and shame on your momma for making you wear that pointy dunce cap! Tell her twenty lashes with a wet noodle!! Neither of us have ever even tried out at any earthdog trials. We don't think they have them in Idaho at least, but for sure I (BRD) would be VERY afraid to go into a tunnel. Hootie would probably do it though cuz he is intrepid. So, don't be ashamed. You're good at other things, right??

Dewey. We agree that your Moma deserves lots of congratulations for all those ribbons. She's amazing at that EarthDog stuff. But YOU are the amazing reporter. You make us laugh right out loud, even when we're imagining you bolting from the buzzer or beeper or whatever-it-is sound. We bolt when we hear a plastic bag snap. We'd be south of the border if we had to listen to something that reminded us of getting a jolt. We'd be right behind you, high tailing it for somewhere far away.

You are our hero, Dewey.

Dewey please pass our congratulations onto your Mama, she is so clever competing in the Earth Dog trials.

You on the other hand are definitely not a dunce if you can sit at that keyboard, google, find wikipedia and actually understand all that hooman language then in our eyes you are a true scholar!

Maybe Earthdoggin' isn't your cup of tea. No shame in that. We'll just have to find out what else you would be good at. Like, hmmm, maybe chicken-pluckin'. Yeah, that's right, chicken-pluckin'! I could show you how that's done. I'm a champion chicken-plucker, had years of experience (just ask our laying hens about that, you know, the bare-bottomed ones). Or possum-treein', or turtle-snatchin', frog-hoppin', mole-diggin', cricket-tossin'...Let's get together and brainstorm some ideas!

Hey Dewey, What's up with Gram calling her best boy a Dunce? Now I seem to recall you doing most difficult thingies including exercises on her bikey, trying to get into the garage to get the vermins and of course FIGHTING THE PORCUPINE. Now that was the bravest thing I have EVER seen. If Gram doesn't feel a great big meanie now for calling you a Dunce perhaps you can call those guys you know from Chicago?

It was great to see you with your Dad Dewey' looks like you two were having a right laugh.Could you mover in there?

Tell Mom she's did a right royal job with Mr Rat winning all those ribbons. And don't forget Dewey...ribbons look much better on girlies right?

Wiry loves and kisses Eric xx

Aw Dewey, you're not a dunce - no way!! As a matter of fact, I think it was rather clever of you not to go into the tunnel when you heard that whistle. You remembered what an electric fence sounds like, and I think that's really SMART!!

However, congratulations to Asta Marie for winning her ribbons. She's really good at chasing rats, but you have better recall - and you can spell!

Dewey Dewster, you've got a beautiful name and you stick with it. You googled up the term Dunce and you gave us such a lot of info on it - that proves that you aren't a Dunce.

Probably your Gram knows it already but I'd like "you" to remember that there are three types of skills - the affective, the psychomotor, and the cognitive. You are good at the cognitive skills:)

BTW, those ribbons are beautiful - had I been a terrier, I too would've been inspired to participate in the ED competition - (Do they allow Zinar cuties?)

Don't know about those treats and I haven't seen the draft contract yet:( Last evening they had gone over to the new landlord's (owner's) to sign the contract for the office space.

I am still the mktg. guru - but I am not asking them to pay me extra. I mean how much can I eat (or walk, or nap!!)

I hope you get that DSL soon - I've been missing you:(

Hey Dewey!
Sorry I'm so slow responding to your bloggy -- Mom's busy running us around and didn't have anything to blog 'til this past weekend. Your mom sounds like she's a super Earthdog -- congratulations!

We understand about that stopwatch sound, we have some Bedly friends that couldn't get up to the tunnel 'cause of the flags this place in West VA used that look like the invisible fence flags they have at home. They asked the judge if she would remove it and she was nice enough to let them run without the flags. Next time you might ask the judge if they could use another type 'watch that doesn't beep like that.. worth a shot... or even bring a new one that doesn't make that beep and offer it. A reasonable judge wouldn't mind!

Mom's taking me and Josie up to NJ on the 16th to practice ED for the day. They have practice scheduled the previous weekend but we have agility trials instead. Josie needs to do some more Senior training and I need to learn how NOT to leave the ME tunnel before my 90 seconds are up. Mom wants to take us to the day-after-Montgomery ED test in NJ in October for fun and maybe get a Senior leg for Josie. The AKC usually sends a photographer and they take pics of all the different breeds for the article they put on their website. It's a fun time anyway and we see some ED friends to party with...

I'm not sure but Mom thinks the next Donegal test is the same weekend she's entered me in ANOTHER agility trial...!

Rudy

We have sooo missed you! Dewey, tell your mom you are Dewey Dewster. PERIOD! You are a great reporter and so what if you don't like those trials. Congrats to your Mom, but you are just as good in different ways. Remember, we Poodles are smarter than most, so I know!
