Fall 'n All......Ya gotta love the scenery......

Hi ya bloggies,
I tell ya here it is nearly the end of October and  the weather is gettin' cooler. The leaves have changed colors....that is the leaves that haven't already fallen off the trees. This summer was so hot and dry that this hasn't been a very colorful fall at all.

But we headed up ta the cottage fer a little fall escape and Gram did get a few good pictures that will help us remember the fall of 2010. First our road.......not as pretty as last year but nothin' ta scoff at either......

Our road, Colorado Road outside of Titusville, Pa
We head down and up and then down Henderson Hollow Road ta get ta our place.....I say up and down cause it is down a hill and then up another one...then down another one....Pennsylvania is full of hills.
Our neighbor's house on Henderson Hollow Road

We like ta visit Grandma Judy when we are here 'n when Pap went over there he got attacked by 3 wild wire fox terriers that live at Grandma Judy's house.
Meet Jewels, Goober and Shaun C...... Ya can tell how scared Pap was when they attacked 'em.
So Gram, Pap and Grandma Judy took a trip ta Corry, Pa ta shop 'n see some fall sights too.
And when Gram was on the way over ta pick 'er up she took this picture of the side road.
Up here we are in the middle of the country and when ya travel country roads ya see strange things.
And they saw this guy, a grouse, in the middle of the road and they had ta chase 'em off so he wouldn't get hit.
After Corry Pa.... Gram, Pap, 'n Judy drove ta Spartansberg...... Ya can only park yer buggy in this Spartansberg parkin' spot.
So I guess this buggy won't get a parkin' ticket.
Gram would have loved ta scoop up that pile of manure fer her garden but Pap wouldn't stop. There's lots ta see in Spartansberg....all ya have ta do is look around.
These geese were hangin' out on the shore of Clear Lake in Spartansberg Pa
We saw this lake one other year we stopped in Spartansberg......it's always a lovely place ta catch yer breath.
Now Gram walked right up ta these geese and they didn't move. Maybe they were lookin' fer food.

Geese by the bridge on Clear Lake Spartansberg Pa.

'N right next ta the geese was this bridge goin' over ta the Clear Lake Lumber Company. They sure keep it nice 'n picturesque too.
This quaint bridge is on Clear Lake by the Clear Lake Lumber Company
Don't ya just love the peaceful tranquility on Clear Lake? There were picnic groves there 'n tables ta rest at and enjoy the scenery.
Clear Lake
On the way outta Spartansberg......there was a flurry of activity. It was gettin' ta be quitin' time and this fella was rushin' ta get home .
Amish buggy
Gram has never been lucky enough ta get a good picture of the Amish cause they move so fast.  This was one lucky picture.

And the car got right behind these guys who were just clompin' along in a hurry ta get somewhere.....home maybe.....

Two  Amish buggies racin' right along.
Ya gotta just love the sight of the Amish. If ya can actually see 'em that is cause they don't like ta get photographed. Maybe Gram will get arrested fer taken pictures of 'em.

We found this pretty tree in Tionests Pa
We all took a ride ta Tionesta cause Gram wanted ta see the boat launch and lake.

Now we were gettin' pretty hot in the car and we just wanted a little fresh air.
Now that's us lookin' out the car window....we were down at the Tionesta boat launch
The wind was blowin' 'n the water looked cold and the boat launch was deserted.....except fer us.......

Deserted boat launch at Tionesta Lake
Now where were all the boats taday....it isn't even snowin' yet? But we wanted ta see the sights so we could show 'em ta ya.

Lookin' over at the Tionesta Resevoir Lake
Back home again at the cottage. Ya know at one time Gram 'n Pap could burn fall  leaves in a burn barrel  in the borough we live in outside of Pittsburgh. But that practice ended years ago. We can still burn up at the cottage 'n so we enjoy it whenever we can.
When we got up taday Pap built a fire....we stay away from that so we don't get burnt.

Now I tell ya all that talkin' I'm doin' on this tour we've been taken ya on has plum wore me out. I am goin' ta rest in my bed a spell and see if I can get enough energy stored up so I can play some BALL.

Dewey's head in Dewey's bed

It sure has been great ta have ya along fer our Fall tour........we have a lot more pictures 'n maybe we can show 'em ta ya later...........
Ya all wake me up before dinner.....will ya?

I'm gonna keep my eyes open a crack ta make sure I don't miss dinner....I may be tired but I'm not stupid......

A Walkin'....'n Chewin'.....'n Truckin' Report

Hi ya bloggies,

I tell ya technology is great except when it isn't....if ya know what I mean.......

I was tryin' ta file an important report usin' one of Gram's old programs......'n when I filed the report....it looked great.

Then when I had ta reduce the size of it....it didn't look so great anymore.....

But since it took 2 hours ta make,  I'm filin' it anyway.

Ya may be able ta tell that I got a haircut....so now I look a lot more PROFESSIONAL......but very
bare- butted........

'N I used some silly stuff in my slide-show......

If ya can see it anyway...........here it is...........................bigified as it is............

A Dewey Dewster report on taking a walk, getting new chewies and checking out brothers truck.

Well, my report was supposed ta speak volumes but now it seems like ya need a magnifying glass ta read it.......

But ya can get the idea....can't ya???? I'm virtually neeked 'n now it's cold here.....yikes.......

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on us all Walkin'.....Chewin' our new chewies and checkin' out big brudder Brian's truck.......

Au-tum-nal Equinox......We send ya a Pox........

Hi bloggies,

Now I tell ya I'm weary....
'n dirty....
'n I need a haircut....
did ya hear that Gram ?
But I'm reportin' anyway about the comin' of Autumn.
The Au-tum-nal Equinox....not ta be confused with our Chevy Equinox....

The official first day of Autumn is Wednesday September 22, 2010 and what a season it is turning out ta be.

Here in "da Burgh" we have had a very hot and very dry Summer. But ya can always tell when it is comin' ta an end when we get ta see all the signs of Fall.

Now Gram 'n Pap found this bugger in brother Scott's front yard. A lady at the Pittsburgh Zoo said it was a Hickory Horned Devil.....'n that it was lookin' fer a place ta pupate fer the Winter. When it emerges in the Spring, it is one huge moth. I tell ya it is one scary lookin' crawlin' caterpillar. It was 5 inches long and very determined ta find a Winter home.
Gram 'n Pap gave it ta the lady at the Zoo so she could let it pupate in 'er garage....'n then she gets ta see it next Spring.....when it's a beautiful moth.

Now every Fall, Gram sees the likes of this guy when she waters her garden Mums. She saw one of 'em eatin' a poor grasshopper that happened ta trespass in his Mums. Yikes......they are vicious. Preying Mantis.....beautiful....... but deadly.......'en he likes our Mums.....
We just got back from another week at the cottage...Gram looks forward ta pickin' pumpkins every Fall but last year she didn't get any and so this year, she's been out there pollinatin' the flowers herself. Unfortunately, we didn't see many female flowers until this trip so while we have a few baby pumpkins growin' now it will take til the end of October ta get any big ones.
Now taday we got home and since it was quite warm (85 degrees)....Gram had the windows and doors open.....

That is until she saw the "Stink Bugs" all over the screens and climbin' thru the little cracks ta get in. Ya sure don't want ta get "Stink Bugs" in yer house cause they really STINK.
We used ta see 'em at the cottage only but recently they have decided they like the city and we see more here......

The windows and doors are all CLOSED now.......

And every night we hear on the news about the invasion of "Bed bugs"........
creepy little vermin that suck yer blood out while yer sleepin'.
Gram always remembers her Mom saying as she tucked 'er in " Good Night, Sleep Tight......don't let the Bed Bugs bite".
She never saw any back then .....or EVER fer that matter......but now they say they are everywhere and Gram is really worried they will move in here.

I sure don't want 'em in my Bed....
how about you?
Nasty vermin.....
fer sure......
So far my bed is free of the little creepy crawlers.....
'n I wanna keep it that way....
So here's hopin' the buggers don't decide they like our neighborhood cause they are
 "NOT WELCOME" here.......no siree.....

Well Bloggies......heres hopin' yer Au-tum-nal Equinox is goin' along well...
that yer homes are all free of the crawlin' vermin....
that ya get ta see an occasional praying mantis, and caterpiller........
'n that all yer Pumpkins are plump, large and orange.

When ya wake up taday....ya will have crossed inta the Autumnal season...

Unless ya already woke up and it's already taday in  yer world....

Then yer enjoyin' it now....

Happy Autumn everyone !

Don't let the "Bed Bugs' bite.....

Nine Years Ago........Let us not forget........

Hi ya bloggies,

Nine years ago today

We were attacked by radical extremists.

They tried to destroy us....

But they didn't.......

They made us mad....

And they made us cry......

Our tears made rivers of sorrow

But formed mountains of resolve

And united us as a nation.

Today we honor everyone

That lost their life

On that fateful day

September 11, 2001

Let us never forget.......

And may

God Bless America !!!!

Yes, May God Bless America

My Home Sweet Home !!!!!

Summer is fer Playin', Havin' Fun and Reportin'

Hi ya bloggies....

Here I am reportin' from Northwestern Pa. again. Now ya might remember this picture of me from last year but I'm recyclin' it cause I want ta report from a vantage point  and Gram didn't get any good VANTAGE POINT pictures this trip. She is sooooo much in trouble lately......she's on probation as my assistant...I tell ya probation.....

Now Shafali (aka Mercury, Oorvi's Mom) has another contest on 'er blog. Ya need ta tell a story that goes with a caricature she drew fer the blog. Now I tell ya this one stumped me a bit cause every time I thought of somethin' clever, I thought of somethin' else that really happened......'n there was a war in my mind of stories....
Here's the story that won the war.....

Crime Never Pays

The door to the cell shut behind him with a clank and a thud.....his eyes scanned the room that would be his home for the next 5 years....a 6 X 6 cell with a commode and a cot. His leg was chained to the wall to remind him not to exhibit any more unruly behavior...it would not be tolerated.  He sat on the cold concrete floor, alone and afraid and just shook his head in disbelief.

They had set out early.....way before daybreak and found themselves walking the streets of West View, a little borough just north of the City of Pittsburgh. Lots of parked cars lined the streets there since the majority of the residents do not have driveways and garages.

The three of them... Jack, Will and Beth.... wandered up and down the streets trying car doors to see if by chance any were unlocked. You were likely to find any number of valuables left in those cars by unsuspecting residents....thinking they were safe and secure from prying eyes. As they went about their business, they heard a man shouting at them...the language was strong and the voice was angry. "Stop what you are doing, right now" he said "and stay right where you are". Jack who was seated in one of the autos looking through the glove box, jumped out and ran into the woods.

In the glow of a street light, Will and Beth saw a man approaching with a German Shepherd dog straining on his lead, his eyes wide and threatening. "If you don't stay right where you are, I am going to sic this dog on you both",  he said. It only took a second for them to decide not to press their luck and with a quick look at the dog, they stopped dead in their tracks and waited.

The man pulled out a cell phone and dialed 911 while the dog sat at attention before them. A short time later, the police arrived and took Will and Beth into custody. Good old Jack turned himself into police later.

The hero of the day is Paul Pokorny and a lot of kudos belong to his dog Cochesse who is normally a tail-wagging face-licking canine. Paul and Cochesse were simply out for an early morning walk trying to beat the heat of the day. This story is true....only the names of the accused have been changed to save them from further embarrassment.

When the Police Chief later presented Mr. Pokorny with a certificate of appreciation, he was told that $1700 in stolen jewelry had been recovered from the captured group. A crime spree met a timely end under the watchful eye of a man out walking his dog who was willing to get involved.

Now I'm tellin' ya this because Cochesse is my hero and I'm gonna be just like 'em when  I grow up. Here's a picture of him that appeared in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette along with their version the story. Ain't he beautiful....big 'n strong and handsome..... I guess that his Dad is OK lookin' too but that Cochesse...now that's a hunk.....

But because of the two of 'em 'n their bravery, our  little borough is a safer place....'n we're grateful ta both of 'em....

So there's my version of the story.....'n I hope ya like it......( ya will have ta excuse the different font sizes in the story as Blogger had its own mind tonight and Gram couldn't get 'em ta change it.)

Now onta our visit ta our cottage.......
I think that I will let these videos speak fer themselves.........

And then some more.....

Now ya can see that we're pretty tired after all that activity.....But we would do it all again tomorrow if we could.

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on Shafali's contest story and our best day this summer........hope ya had a good time.....

A Tale of 2 Visits.......'N an Award fer the Blog too......

Hi Ya Bloggies......

Here I am reportin' about 2 different visits....one ta Kellers Lake by our cottage .....and one visit we had with Jake 'n Fergie, Miss Sally,'n Nina too......

Before I get inta the visits.....I have received an award.......'n I'm flattered ta get it too......
Mercury (aka Shafali)....who is Oorvi's Mom sent me this award fer my blog. Ain't it pretty? Thank ya very much Mercury......

Now this award comes with conditions and I will try ta fulfill the most important one....'n that's ta tell ya 7 things about me that ya may not already know.

So here goes.....7 things about Dewey Dewster......new ones....

1. I always like ta be the winner in everythin'.....I don't like ta lose anythin'....so when we play ball...the 3 of us...I always want ta be the one ta bring back the ball...all the time.

2. Because I always want ta be the one ta bring the ball back, if my Mom gets the ball, I body slam 'er so she'll drop it and I can get it....and if Toby gets the ball, I go over 'n try ta take it outta his mouth so I can bring it back.

3. I don't like Pap ta pet Toby 'n scratch his ears either.....so if I see Pap pettin' Toby, I just place myself right in between him 'n Pap so I get the pettin' n Toby doesn't.

4. I don't swim very well at all and I didn't know that until lately. We were at Kellers pond and I nearly drowned.....Gram 'n Pap too were all upset thinkin' their little baby Dewey  might not make it.

5. Every night I start out sleepin' in my nice doggie bed but  then I always crawl under the big bed ta sleep. It's hard ta get under there but I do it anyway.

6. I always act like I don't like Toby but I really do......he's my brother 'n I like ta play with 'em but I growl the whole time...just so he won't know.

7. I like ta think that I am fit 'n trim but I'm actually a bit overweight......'n I need ta go on a diet....the exercise doesn't seem ta be helpin' take off the weight.......'n that makes me sad....cause I like ta eat.....

Now ya know a whole let more about me than ya did before.......don't ya? Some might just want ta say that I'm spoiled....but I'm just bein' Dewey......

Now the second condition fer the award is ta pass it along ta 5 other blogs that ya think are worthy ta receive it....'n I know that all of ya are....'n maybe ya already did tell 7 things about ya....... so if ya want ta participate 'n tell everyone 7 more things about ya please take the award fer yerself....

Now Fer the Tale of Two Visits...

We had another visit ta the cottage 'n then we came home and Jake 'n Fergie....' Sally 'n Nina visited us too....
Check it out.......

Well, now that's one more report that I have filed with my new boss.....
This is Dewey Dewster sayin' that I hope everyone has a great week and I hope ya enjoyed my new report about a blog award 'n a Tale of 2 Visits......

My Aunt Jewels.....yer gonna love 'er.....fer sure.....

Hi ya bloggies,

I tell ya, it's gettin' harder 'n harder ta find the time ta publish a post. Why, this has been one humdinger of a summer 'n we've been real busy playin' ball at the cottage......'n gettin' hot.....gettin' cooled off in our pool......'n gettin tired.

Now, I'm warnin' ya that we have been playin' real hard and so I look a bit rumpled.......

But here I am reportin' from my bed under the coffee table at camp.......

Taday........I wanna tell ya all about my favorite Aunt Jewels........

Aunt Jewels lives with Grandma Judy and she is my Mom's sister and what a sister she is.....a real chip off the old block as they say and a terrier through 'n through......

Ya know that my Grandma Judy just loves animals.....all animals.....well, maybe not the skunk that was spraying in 'er yard a spell back....or the fox that was stalkin' 'er chickens......'er the porcupines.....cause ya know what they did ta us..........but all the other animals that ya might find in the country.

Yep, Grandma Judy buys corn.... 'n bird seed.... and lots of other food fer the birds, wild turkeys, deer and even racoons that happen ta stop by fer a meal. Why, she doesn't even mind it too much when the black bears come around except when they knock 'er bird feeders down.....then she's madder 'n a hornet at 'em.....

She just likes ta watch 'em and marvel at their beauty and grace...........
yep Grandma Judy is a softie......fer sure.....

Now Grandma Judy kept 3 puppies outta my Mom's litter.....Shawn C....Goober (who is really Uncle Shawn's dog) and Jewels.

Jewels is a real earthdog.....'n she didn't even go ta earthdog trainin'...can ya imagine......she just learned it all by herself.....

Meet my aunt Jewels.......
She looks pretty harmless, doesn't she? I can tell ya that ya are a fool if ya make that assumption of Aunt Jewels......yes siree........

Aunt Jewels is a hunter.......and Aunt Jewels is good one too !!!!!

She just goes out inta the yard and sniffs around and the first thing ya know out she comes with a little baby somethin' or other........

Yep....she just loves ta give 'em a big hug....usually with 'er mouth .....and then the baby somethin'
or other doesn't move anymore.....

She does that with the little baby bunnies that Grandma Judy really loves and tries ta protect.....
She does that with baby raccoons........'n baby birds too that are foolish enough ta venture inta her grass.....
And she even tries ta hug Grandma Judy's chickens.....now THAT is really frowned upon.......
If ya think she looks harmless....ya need ta look closer....much closer......

Poor Grandma Judy thinks my Aunt Jewels is really mean but my Gram goes over there and hugs 'er and tells 'er what a good earthdog she is......a terrier true ta her breed and encourages 'er ta keep up all the good work.....

So now that ya have met my Aunt Jewels.....what do you think about 'er ?

Ya can tell me....really ya can........
Me, I'm just not gonna think about 'er anymore right now cause I'm tired.......

                     Toby's tired.............
'N my Mom's tired too......

I have a feelin' that's why Gram always throws the ball fer us....she knows that we're gonna run and bring it back and that's gonna make us tired......

What do ya think....is she tryin' ta wear us out?????

So until next time, I'm gonna share a picture with ya of one of the many butterflies that we have visitin' our flowers......and I'm gonna dream of huggin' a baby bunny........

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on my favorite Aunt Jewels...........bein' really tired from playin' ball and the butterflies on our flowers.

Have a great weekend everyone !!!!!
