Gram takes over the blog today and tries to capture some of the pride and excitement she feels being a part of the City of Pittsburgh and part of the Steeler Nation.
Last night the Pittsburgh Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII by prevailing over the Arizona Cardinals. What a game it was !!!! While my words pale in comparison to those of professionals, I tried to describe some of the feelings I had while watching our Home Team become the victors in the Super Bowl and go on to win their 6th Super Bowl Game and Lombardi Trophy.
Super Bowl XLIII
By Nancy Johanson
In Super bowls and football,
You can't keep those Steelers down.
In Pittsburgh, home of champions,
In Pittsburgh, my home town.
The Super Bowl on February one
In the year of two thousand nine,
Will go down in the record books,
As the Super Bowl for all time.
The Steelers fought the Cardinals,
And the Cardinals fought right back.
And no one knew the winner,
Until the final ground attack.
We take our hats off to Big Ben
And to James Harrison for his play.
His interception and hundred yard TD.
Made the fans all scream "Horray' !!!
The Cardinals played an awesome game
In the 4th quarter they pulled ahead.
With less than 3 minutes on the clock,
They thought they'd put it all to bed.
But as Coach Tomlin pointed out.
Sixty minutes make a football game.
And though it seemed the cause was lost.
In the end, the Steeler's overcame.
With only seconds ticking on the clock.
And Big Ben throwing down the field.
Santonio Holmes snagged the final pass.
And the game outcome was sealed.
He reached high in the end zone.
Toes touching to the ground.
With determined will and mighty skill.
Why, that lead just turned around.
Heads were shaking left and right.
The Steelers pulled off quite a win.
Final score Steelers 27 Cardinals 23.
Let the celebrations now begin.
With six Lombardi trophies,
We stand in speechless admiration.
Of the players and the faithful fans,
All across the Steeler nation !!!
And while we're here in Pittsburgh,
The Steeler Nation breaks the mold.
It's members span this big wide world,
To support the Black and Gold !!!
I just want to extend my congratulations to the City of Pittsburgh, to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Rooney family and to all the fans in the Steeler Nation !!!
Go Black and Gold !!!!

Okay, yes,Steelers won.Good for them. But the Cards did put up a valient effort. Our momma is from NE PA,so even though we are in AZ right now she has divided loyalties. We aren't football dogs, so as long as we got some juicy skin from the bbq wings we were happy!! Now a good baseball game is another thing. Smooches from pooches, BabyRocketDog & Hootie

Wow...Dewey! You are the super-poet!
Does Gram help you with those lines?!
Here we go crazy for cricket...the way you do for baseball (baseball - right?)
So congratulations on writing such wonderful lines (and I loved the snow-poem too...in fact, I understood it so I loved it better:)) and congratulations that your team won:)
I've heard that you are all experiencing sub-zero temperatures! You take care of yourself and your family.
Things've been busy out here. Mercury and Cameo are hoping that all this hard work would help them keep afloat...but it's getting really tough. And if you'd believe it - the official word from the government is..."No Recession!" With elections beginning in about three months, they don't want to accept it!
You take care, and come over to my blog when you have time. (The three of us begin to miss you...your comments make us smile and it's wonderful to know that across three oceans and beyond three continents - we've got a furry friend who cares.)
Love, licks, and wags,
Oorvi
Woohoo! Our dad is a huge Steelers fan, so he's very happy!
We hope you are all staying warm!

Poppy, Penny & Patches
We're all so proud of those Steelers we don't know what to do!
Mom's not a real football fan but she sometimes watches the Super Bowl if she likes who's playing and was rootin' for the Steelers. What a nail biter at the end!!! All 4 of us Bedlingtons were wishing for a towel to wave!
Yeaaaaa!
Rudy

Hi Dewey, Asta Marie and Toby!
With all those trophies, maybe they could give you one? Congrats on the big Steelers victory - our Granny was very happy as well!
No real snow to talk of here - just some frozen gunk in the gutters. Asta and I are still holding out for at least 4" of fluffy powdery stuff!
Your pal,
Petey

Hi Dewey,
How are you?
Is it still very cold in your part of the world? It's becoming warmer here - climatically as well as politically:)
These two went to a fair (after two years - imagine that!) and shot some pictures. I'll be asking Ms. Attitude to post some on my blog. I think you are going to like them:)
Everything else is fine...except that Mercury and Cameo have seriously been evaluating the possibility of working on another project...they seem to be quite enthusiastic about it:)
Licks n wags,
Oorvi
Hi Dewey,
I guess you are on your way to Florida:)
About Slumdog Millionaire and about India...
I guess that the slums in the metros of India are quite like the slums anywhere else around the world (think of the ghettos of NY.) Fortunately, slums are about 4% of India's population, and so they can't be considered as the representation of Indians and India.(Of course - if movies were made on the 96%, there aren't enough chances of their qualifying for BAFTAs or being nominated for OSCARs. Unfortunately for us, this is the one movie, which has made it to the OSCARS and would probably get at least (the first OSCAR for India) and so many around the world would see it and wonder whether India truly is as portrayed in the film.
Do read, Josh Tyler's thoughts at: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rant-Slumdog-Millionaire-Is-Not-A-Joyous-Celebration-Of-Indian-Culture-11514.html
This article is indeed thought-provoking as it separates India and the Indian way of life, from the movie as an artwork. The article reflect the thoughts of many Indians.
Licks n Wags,
Oorvi
Hi Dewey:)
I am fine:)...but wondering. And so I made a post. Visit when you find time .
I'll post the fair pictures soon (they've been downloaded to the laptop after two weeks!(how slow can humans be?))
All the best for your trip.
Licks n wags,
Oorvi
I was wondering what happened to you! Dewey, did you and the pack get to go to Florida too? I hope so, with all the ice and snow you've had to deal with. I'm still dealing :( My brother Daniel is in Florida with his girlfriend right now and he says the weather is super!
Guess what? I have teenage acne - pimples all over my snout. So I'm trying to grow a moustache. I'm just waiting for my man-whiskers to sprout.
Mama and Papa are going to see Slumdog Millionair this afternoon. They heard it was fantastic.
Hope you're back to your blog soon.
