Dining with the Dewster

Hi ya bloggies.....

At times I really think that Gram is bein' terribly mean not lettin' us post more often. But then I stop 'n think a spell and realize that there are other things happenin' in the world like..........

An huge oil spill from a deep sea oil rig explosion that continues ta threaten' the gulf area
Tornados that are sweepin' through Oklahoma and Kansas killin' people and destroyin' homes
Violence in Iraq is escalatin' 'n that threatens the stability of the new government there
Renewed smoke and ash is risin' from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokul volcano and disruptin' air travel again
Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister of England, resigned today..........

The list goes on and on....Mother Nature is claimin' ta be the boss and has the upper hand.....violence will continue to escalate since there are people on this earth who don't understand the word "Peace" and "Peaceful Co-existence"....and the musical chairs that politicians play will only get much more animated as the U.S. elections are held this November cause it's citizens are extremely angry at the direction our country is headed in.......

On a lighter note, we have somethin' special ta show ya.......
We had Gram cookin' fer us taday......

Yep, ya heard me right......we got a special treat.......

Last winter before we went ta Florida, Uncle Jim got us a deer......

Now before ya start yellin' at us fer bein' Bambi killers....we want ta tell ya that while white tail deer are beautiful graceful animals....there are also waaaaayyyyy too many of 'em around.....so that's why there's a huntin' season ta thin out the herd....

The auto insurance people wish there were a LOT less deer....cause they cause a ton of auto accidents and even some deaths by runnin' inta cars......

So Uncle Jim got us a deer so we could have some great meals when we got back home again.....

'N then we got Gram ta cook some fer us.....yep, special just fer us......

Before it gets cooked, it looks like this......

Then it gets inta the pot 'n Gram turns on the stove......

And Gram cooks it until it looks like this......yummy....right ?????

Then Gram adds some rice ta the meat and when it's all done we get ta try some......

I hate that flash beastie and so I hid under the table until Gram put it away.....
But once that good food was put inta our dishes, I was anxious ta try it........we get some added inta our dry dog food......

Ya can bet that all 3 of us were chompin' at the bit when we saw our dishes gettin' fixed......

'n we weren't sharin' with anyone...no siree.....

We wish ya could taste some of it but we sure can't send any in the mail.......

After eatin' that big meal, I settled down fer a nap on the sofa....ta see if I could solve all the woes of the world....

I may be tryin' ta  figure' out how ta do that fer the next few days.......maybe fer weeks........or even months........well, it could even be years.........truth be told.......yes siree.........

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on our special treat and the weight of all the problems in the world......

Yummy yummy deer meat! I've yet to try venison...it definitely looks yummy the way your Gram makes it! *licks lips* I wonder if we can find those here in Malaysia...heh!

Yeah, there are so many things happening around the world it's scary. It's like as if Mother Nature is saying "Enough of all this abuse on me...I'm fighting back!" Hopefully things will go back to normal real soon...

Hope you all are well too! So sorry for not visiting enough...my human is very unpredictable too! >.<" Hope you have a great week ahead!

Hi, Dewey!
You are so right! There are lots of bad things happening around the world!
But... we have to be brave and face all those bad things hoping for a change!
And... your food looks delicious!
I have never had deer! Is it yummy??
My uncle had a ranch with lots of apple trees... and the deers liked to come and eat them. My uncle did not have the heart to hunt them so he used to spend all the time making them run away. The deers won at the end!
Take care

We think our mom needs a big bowl of venison to keep her from being so upset at all the damage happening in the Gulf of Mexico. And all the other things you describe.

But we're terriers and we live for the moment -- so we'll take some of that yummy venison too, just because!!

Wirey love,

Jake and Just Harry

Hey Dewey my man! Our mom has been just horrible about posting on our bloggy and visiting, but we are trying to whip her into shape.(Wish us luck)
We used to get venison when we lived out in the boonies of East Texas. Mom would make venison jerkey...yummy. And venison sausage. She loved the backstrap for her eating, but we'd get to share occasionally. (And yes, there were so many, they had to be thinned out. So we understand. She herself couldn't manage to actually do the shooting, but was grateful there were those that did and then shared with us! Usually they wanted her to make them some sausage, as apparently she figured out a tasty recipie everyone liked. bartering!)
I think we are going to have to have a summit of thinkers Dewey, as it may be more than even you can solve....
We are sending hugs and loves

Hi Dewey,

It's great to know that you've convinced Gram to post...don't know about venison though. Please excuse me for not commenting.

About those problems...
These humans don't know where they are taking the world. Every little ounce of burden that we place on the already tired Mother Earth's shoulder makes matters worse. But you can't explain it to the couple that stays across the road, which adds an average of one mis-behaved child to their litter every year! You can't explain it to those leaders who come together, have some fun, and then go back home - with no resolution on cutting down their emissions.

I guess we can't do much - but then I don't think that you or I would be alive to witness the Earth getting fried (or roasted - your choice.)

If Newton could've looked into the future with that telescope he built - he'd never have given us the laws of motion in the first place.
(Yes, she's posted his caricature.)

Ooooh Venison, nice and healthy. It's very lean meat, enjoy it pals.
Now the pinkies are heading to Harveys Lake north east Pennsylvania. They have Airedale buddies there.

Oh Dewey, I am not sure what to say. I think that bambi was my friend. COL.....Crying tears.
But I guess I eat meat too, so it is ok. I just don't like to see eyes looking at me from my food.
There sure is a lot going on in the world right now.

Good to hear from you guys. Mom grew up in that western PA place and woo wee there get to be WAY too many deer there. Smashing into cars and such. Venison is deeeeelicious.

You've got the right idea, Dewey. Staying aware and up to date on the world's issues, considering them all, helping to problem solve, getting creative, keeping them in perspective (with as positive an outlook as possible) and finding time to enjoy what we have, as well. That venison looked delicious. We've never tried it, but we believe you all when we see how much you liked it. Maybe someday we'll get some.

In the meantime ... tar balls arrived at the west end of our beach last night. Makes us downright sad. We wish we could do something to help. At the least we'll try to encourage others to keep coming to our beaches ... even if it's hotter than Hades, it's nice. Real nice. 'Specially when we're napping under the ceiling fans.

Love ya an still sweating in Florida,
Jake and Fergi
