Doctor Dewey ta the Rescue

Hi ya bloggies,

I tell ya that it seems like we never get ta post anymore and that is of course the fault of "Ya know who"....'n that's not me, Dewey Dewster. I'll give ya a hint....she's old 'n crabby... 'n in big trouble fer not helpin' us update our blog.......ya can supply the name.....hint over.

Well, nothin' much happens around here but lately we did have a spot of excitement.......quite a bit of excitement....'n all because of Toby.

Toby is a "Noodle Brain"........'n I bet ya all know what that is, cause that term has been around the block 'n back again.

We were up ta the cottage....'n Pap was cuttin' up a small tree that he cut down fer firewood.

Now Toby likes ta push around big stones with his nose....'n yep it tears it up pretty bad when he does that......'n he likes ta push around logs too.

So this time when he was pushin' around the log, he musta got his nose caught up in the bark....which I am sure ya all know can be pretty rough.

Well, Pap stopped ta look at 'em cause he was runnin' around chasin' us with blood runnin' outta his face like nothin' happened. Pap looked at him real close 'n he had ripped a big chunk outta his nose and it was bleedin' like wildfire.

It was off ta the vet ta have it looked at. Now ya may remember a few years ago when me 'n Toby tangled with a porcupine who stabbed us nearly ta death. That happened on a holiday weekend night  'n Gram 'n Pap had ta rush us ta a vet far away cause the one in Titusville was off.

Fortunately this time it was early enough that Gram could get Toby in before the vet closed....'n she was thankful fer that. Toby had ta go inta surgery 'n get his nose sewed up and when he came out, he looked like this.

Pretty nasty lookin' ain't it? Why I figure that what little brains Toby has were seepin' out that hole in his nose......yes siree....'n if that happened, we were all in fer trouble......pure trouble.

Now that vet doctor said that Toby had ta wear this horrible contraption fer 10 ta 14 days so he didn't knock out those nose stitches.

Did ya ever see anythin' so ridiculous as this, I ask ya.

Why poor Toby had trouble keepin' his head up with that contraption on.

It's called an Elizard Collar or somethin'......sheer torture fer sure.....

'N he looked pitiful.... I tell ya, pitiful.

There wasn't any way he could keep that on fer 2 weeks....

no way at all.

Gram 'n Pap watched 'em....then took it off....

'n he didn't bother his nose at all so they left it off.

I bet that nose was sore....yes siree.......fer sure........

Anyway, Toby survived another disaster....
'er a near disaster......
but I thought that I'd check 'em out once we got back home again.
So I got out my spectacles
....'n my stethoscope....
'n got Toby ta lie  down.....

Nearly had ta drug the little scatter brain, I did....

ta get 'em ta hold still.

Didn't he know this was important ?

I was listenin' fer a heartbeat but I tell ya I only heard a clock tickin'...

clank, clank, clank......

a sick clock at that.....

I checked my medical manuals ta see if I could pinpoint his problems......

ya always want ta research somethin' thoroughly.....

before ya do somethin' ya might regret later.

I think I figured out just what Toby needs.......

It just may be outta my area of expertise......

After readin' many chapters.......

I discovered......

Toby needs.......

A brain transplant.......

No doubt becuz his brain has left the buildin'.......

I actually heard the sound of the ocean when I checked his head......

Neon sign sayin' "VACANCY"

So here I sit tryin' ta figure out if I should tell Gram 'n Pap what kind of operation Toby needs......

'Er if I should just keep that information........

Right ta myself......

What do ya think?

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on a near fatal mishap that Toby had....OK.....maybe I exaggerated a bit there but ya get the idea. Doctor Dewey ta the rescue again. See ya all in surgery !

Hi Dewey! I didn't know that you were a doctor too! I mean, how talented could one dog be. But are you sure of that diagnosis? Could it be that his brain has come unhinged and all you have to do is, put it in its right place, and solder it down? Think about it.

That picture of Toby, with stitches on his nose, made me rub my nose - it must be really painful, and if that wound didn't bother him, he must be a brave doggy indeed.

And yeah, good thing that Gram and Pap took that Elizabeth Collar off - I have had to put it around my neck once, and I hated it!

I don't think I told you, but I won't be blogging in the near future - so I've marked my blogs private...

Licks n wags,

Toby is in good paws with you as his doctor! That nose injury looks pretty painful - didn't know he was a lumberjack too. He is a brave boy though - doesn't seem to let the pain get him down.

Good luck with the surgery -

Lots of licks

Poor Toby! He looks so pathetic in his lampshade - his tail is down for the count! Thank goodness he has you to tend to him, Dewey, but a brain transplant? Don't you think you're going a bit too far?

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

I hope his nose is much better now!
Looks very painful!
Aaaand.... I am not so sure about that brain surgery... I guess you need more info before taking any step, ok?
Take care

Dewey. If you have a chance, you might consider making your way to Florida. We could use your doctoring skills every once in a while. Nothing serious, but you seem to have that special touch.

We're impressed. And we pay in ice cream.
Think about it!

Nasty cut! I wish the wound would heal fast. Give the wound ointment to prevent infection.

Uh, oh! The Inverted ConeHead treatment! We're so sorry, but maybe it's for the best. Just tell 'em your name is Beldar and that your spaceship landed in Lake Michigan...

Cheers,

Poor Toby, to have a booboo that bad on his snoot and to have to wear a cone of shame, too! Hope he heals right up and doesn't go sticking his nose in dangerous places again. Use a stick, Toby. Much safer.

Happy Tails,
William Tell
