Remotely Possible

Gee guys...don't ya just love technology ? We sure do...cause we are at the cottage again 'n that meant dialup service....yuck, yuck...there should be a law against it, I tell ya....a law. Anyway, that dialup service means no postin'....cause ya can't get anything done without usin' up an hour or so ta do it. So we used Blogger's new feature that let's ya set a future date fer yer post to appear. And voila', the post gets posted 'n yer not home. Neat, huh? Yeah, but it didn't work and so we have ta try and publish it remotely with this slow as molasses dialup. And of course, we keep gettin' an error sayin' Blogger could not be contacted.

Boy, I have been learnin' a lot the last few months. Makes my head hurt...it really does......crammin' all that information into that little space where my brain should be....it's gettin' mighty cramped in there.....

So here I am ta tell ya that we don't have a lot ta tell ya but we want ya ta know that we are thinkin' about ya and can't wait til we can get DSL up here.

Sharin'

Now, we like ta share......how about you? Do you like ta share? We especially like ta share somethin' that belongs ta someone else. That means when Gram is eatin' ice cream....we're waitin' ta get our SHARE....and when Pap is eatin' peanuts......we're waitin' ta get our SHARE and that's what is happenin' here......Pap is about ta share some of his peanuts with us. What we're doin' is called An-tic-i-pation....and it's makin' us wait for the goodies but we know they're comin'.

Cottage Excitement

Gram had a big ball in the car for us ta play with....actually there were 3 of 'em...but we only got one so far. You have ta be pretty fast ta get us in action, I tell ya......fast, fast, fast. And Gram, bein' old 'n all ain't fast enough ta catch all the action. So in the video, ya don't get ta see the BEFORE picture....ya only get ta see the AFTER.

That was the ball after me, Mom and Toby put a big hole in it....I got ta run around with it with Toby chasin' me. I run pretty fast, don't I? I love ta have fun....don't you?

We also have a lot of fun in our very own pool. Ya gotta have a pool ta wash off all the dog saliva on balls so ya can play more. For some reason Gram and Pap don't even want ta touch those slimey balls after we had 'em in our mouths for very long. Can't figure out why.......can you? And while we weren't playin' ball, we were tryin' out the pool ta make sure it is safe for the summer. You may notice that there is no lifeguard on duty.....humph........What do ya think 'bout our pool?

There's more ta come.......just wait 'n see........wow, maybe we should add these two scenes to our portfolio so we have a better chance of gettin 'hired as action heroes.....I have ta get our secretary right on that.......

We hope ya all had a really nice week. We'll be home soon so take care now.

Introduction to Earthdog

Hi everyone.......

Well, after tryin' out Earthdog last fall at the Butler County Doggie Fun Day we have been a bitin' at the bit waitin' ta try it out again and fer real this time. We missed the trainin' session last month cause by the time Gram thought to have a look see about it, the whole session was full. But they have practices every month and so we drove the 58 miles last Sunday to see if we can be Earthdogs someday.

That's Cookie and she was tellin' us all about scentin' out the prey. First, we tried ta find the rats that were in while plastic pipes at the edge of the woods. There were holes in the pipes so they could breath and caps on the ends so we couldn't get to 'em. Drat, drat......get that rat!!!!!!

That's me and Mom checkin' out our new terrier friend, Slider. He's a Welsh terrier and we were happy ta meet him. He was just waitin' ta get those rats cause one bit him on the nose last time he was here and he was madder than a hornet.

That's a bunch of the members waitin' ta get to the Junior Earthdog tunnels fer their turn at gettin' the rats.
Now that is the entry to the Junior Earthdog Tunnel....looks a mite intimidatin', doesn't it?

And that's what the tunnels look like from above. They are 30 feet long with 2 ninety degree turns before ya can get ta those rats.
This little guy didn't want ta go thru the whole tunnel so Linda is puttin' him in half-way through.
That's what happened ta me. But ya know what? I'll learn....yes siree, I will....now my Mom may be a different story....cause she wouldn't go in at all......ha, ha, ha, ha....me, Dewey Dewster, showin' up my Mom....takin' on Earthdog.....

And that's the crate of a dog with a lot of Earthdog ribbons....we are goin' ta try and get some of those fer ourselves.....yes we will. And in case yer wonderin' those are the 2 rats that were at the end of the tunnel.....problem is they are in the cage and ya can't get 'em even if ya get to 'em....no fair, I say....how about you?

We're goin' back next month fer the next practice.....then we'll see if my Mom can get into that tunnel. She sure wants ta get the rats...so we shall see.

Action Heroes for Hire

The Pittsburgh Film Office is always promotin' the area as a good place to make movies and there have been a lot of movies filmed here in recent years. Me, Mom 'n Toby thought that it would be really nice ta be film stars. I mean what is better than seein' yerself up on the big screen.

We see ourselves as action heroes 'n so we've been practicin' being the best heroes we can be. We do that so we can get a job in the film industry. And then we wanna make enough money ta buy ourselves all the squeak toys we can destroy in a week. And that's a lot....I tell ya....'cause we rip 'em up in a few minutes.

We put together a portfolio of some of our best acting scenes. See if ya think any of these will help us.

There are many different kinds of monsters that can invade yer territory and so we tried to recreate a lot of scenes that show our best sides so that we can get hired.

1. In the first scene, me and Mom are attackin' a pipe that surely must have vermin inside. Ya sure don't want vermin ta get yer loved ones and we made sure of that.

Now I'm not sure if all the noise that Mom makes detracts from the quality of the scene or not. What do ya think?

2. Toby thinks he could be a leading man and so he was tryin' ta show that he could take care of the big black snake that invaded the side of the cottage and was causin' him a lot of concern. So this scene features Toby the leading man.

Do ya think Toby can get the job?

3. There is this giant pipe in our yard at the cottage. It is really fer draining the water from the driveway gutter into the yard. But we all got it into our heads that the thing was a monster and we needed ta take care of it. So in this scene we are takin' care of the big black monster, yard invader.

If ya notice, me 'n Toby were not barkin'....no siree....we just got right down ta business....attackin' that monster....that's my Mom that's makin' all the noise. She's always barkin'. Anyway, we are sure glad that the monster was taken care of and that Gram and Pap are safe from it.

I keep seein' meself, Dewey Dewster, in the film "The Thin Man Returns" and Mom wants ta star in "Bringing Up Baby Asta Marie" and Toby thinks of himself as playin' the lead in "The Awful Truth About Terriers".

So now....do ya think we can get a job as action heroes? Ya let us all know now, ya hear?

My Cousin Goliath

Hi Guys,

My doggie Gram, Sporty, lives on a dairy farm along with my doggie Uncles, Shawn C. and Goober and my doggie Aunt, Jewels (they're my Mom's litter mates, all wire fox terriers). The farm was sold a few years ago, but hooman Great Gram, Judy, and her family still live there in the old farmhouse.

My hooman Uncle Shawn now has a calf that he says he is raisin' for food. The calf lives in a shelter behind the garage and Uncle Shawn has had him since he was born last year. Did ya know that when momma cows have their babies, they don't get ta keep 'em and nurse 'em... 'n cuddle 'em? Someone comes along and takes the babies right away and they are bottle fed until they can eat solid food.

My that's a Big bottle, huh?
The cow Moms go back into the dairy-milking mix after a few days, once the colostrum is out of their milk. And the baby cows go into little huts with their own fenced yards and a hooman person bottle feeds them all their milk. Sounds like a lot of work, huh? It is.

Here is what the baby huts look like....and there is a whole little city of 'em. Cute little buggers, aren't they?

Anyway, back to Uncle Shawn and his calf. Last time we were at the farm, we got ta see Uncle Shawn's calf and his name is Goliath. Now, if yer plannin' on butcherin' yer little boy child fer food later on, do ya give 'em a name? Well, I guess he's not so little fer a boy child, now is he?

Check out the video of Goliath. He's a cutie, isn't he?

That was hooman Gram Judy callin' Goliath so he would come out ta see us.....

Don't think there are a lot of doggies out there who have a cousin that is a calf and one that will be on a dinner table in a few years. Or so Uncle Shawn says.......

Sure hope ya all enjoyed the dairy farm story and that ya all think Goliath is a pretty neat cousin ta have......we sure do.......

Wildlife Report from Titusville

Hello everyone,

We just came home today after our week in the country and I am taking over the keyboard to report on some of the interesting stuff we did while we were there. We just love the country because we get to run around the big yard we have and search for all the good smells that are there. We knew the deer had been there while we were gone because they left behind lots off little piles of doo doo for us to smell. And one morning we got up and looked out the side window to find them over at our salt lick.

Look at the 3 of them just standing there acting like they own the place. I mean, really, if Dewey would have seen them, he would have gone nuts and they would have gone on their way. So Mom didn't let him see them.

And here's a better shot of the 3 deer and the salt lick. I bet now that we are gone again, they are back there every day.
Now my Mom was really busy working on her rock gardens and when she picks up rocks to rearrange them, she sometimes sees snakes under the rocks. Mom sure is afraid of snakes but I always try to help her out by taking care of them so that they don't scare her anymore. I helped her get rid of two of them. How do I do that? When she calls me, "Snake, Asta, snake!!!!!", I come running and grab the snake and shake it and shake it and shake it. The snake usually falls apart and then I get to show it to Dewey and Toby and we all get to roll on it. Do you see the snake by my feet? He was already soundly shaken and pretty well dead and is upside down.
Mom picked him up on the rock so you could get a better idea of what a monster he was before I got to him with my shaking technique. That's his underside you are looking at. It's a good thing I help my Mom cause she would really be afraid to work in her garden.
We got my Mom a little help with her mind and we have lots more to show you but that will be later on in the week.

We hope that all the Moms out there had a really great Mother's Day. I know that I did.....I spent it with my Mom and with my little boy child, Dewey. And I guess I should also mention that Toby, the red-headed step-child of mine was also around for the occasion. It is aways a great day when you spend it with family.

See you all later...

Asta Marie, always a Mother, Reportin'........

We Got Nothin' !!!!

We got nothin' here at all......nada.....we've been at the cottage now since Sunday and yesterday we all went into Kellers Lake......Gram left the camera at the cottage...Toby was chasin' big stones again....The camera was in the house......We saw wild turkeys down the road.....the camera was back at the cottage again. So what did we get for this post? Just silly old us....

Me and Mom inside the cottage.
And Toby doin' some major roachin".....I wanna tell ya chasin' those big stones and pickin' 'em up is mighty tiring......and Toby was really tired....
And we got Toby chewin' on a bone Gram gave us yesterday. We all got our own but she only snapped Toby's picture this morning.....I think we need ta have a long talk with Gram.

I hear tell there are some big balls waitin' for us in the car and Gram assures me there will be film of us chasin' it to post later. And we are sure to get into Kellers Lake before we leave. So hope ya all are fine and we'll see ya soon.....

I was thinkin' someone like Cary Grant, George Clooney or even Pierce Brosnan or better still, Harrison Ford. Ya know...the leading man type...dark....debonaire....handsome....a swashbuckler....someone fearless and brilliant. Someone a whole lot like meself, man....

So I go to Dogster and take the Dogster Celebrity Quiz and what do I get?????? Well, see fer yerselves......I am mortified....and I'm a lookin for a cave ta hide in 'til I get good 'n gray.....

What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Simon Cowell! Find out at Dogster.com
Wow, your dog is Simon Cowell!

Simon Cowell
Hard to Please
Enterprising, brassy and not afraid to bark what's on his mind, Dewey Dewster is Idol-maker Simon Cowell!
There's no beating around the bush with Dewey Dewster and flattery will get you nowhere. Dewey Dewster calls it like he sees it, and stands firm on all fours behind his decisions. The cat definitely does not have Dewey Dewster's tongue—some of his pals think he's bitter and confrontational, while others find him to be impawsibly hilarious. Dewey Dewster's influence on those around him is remarkable, and he takes advantage of this fact and uses it wisely. Behind his no-nonsense mask, Dewey Dewster is a perceptive sponge, taking in what he sees and hears around him, and then figuring out how to make it look, or sound, better.

Now look at that face...would ya? Do ya see me, Dewey Dewster, Wire Fox Terrier, anywhere in that face? I'm askin' ya ta tell the truth... here........

Now my Mom did much better than me and she is pretty satisified with her celebrity. I think both of them had the same number of husbands....or almost anyway.......

Asta Marie
What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Jennifer Lopez! Find out at Dogster.com
Wow, your dog is Jennifer Lopez!

Jennifer Lopez
Dressed to Kill
Una bomba inteligente autentica, Asta Marie is super-fly girl Jennifer Lopez!
Curvaceous and sassy and always more than willing to pawticipate with a few moves on the dance floor, Asta Marie moves and grooves with the best of them. But that doesn't mean it's all fun and salsa for Asta Marie—discipline and structure are key ingredients that have helped to put Asta Marie on a fur-lined fast track. Family is of utmost importance for Asta Marie , and she takes care of her brothers and sisters with the same dedication that she gives her little 'uns. To see and to be seen are significant parts of Asta Marie's daily activities, and the real-life Cleopetra makes her rounds with confidence and flair, always preferring to hang with the more bold and beautiful members of the pack.

And Toby even got a good guy that he is resemblin' .....Although I've never seen a golf club in his paws...he really does like small balls.........

What celebrity would your pet be? I'm Tiger Woods! Find out at Dogster.com
Wow, your dog is Tiger Woods!

Tiger Woods
Athletic & Poised
Calm and cool on the outside, feisty and determined on the inside, Toby is everyman athlete Tiger Woods!
Toby proved at an early age that he had the skills to pay the bills, running circles around the competition when he was just a wee whippersnapper. Thanks to his tremendous successes, Toby has set aside an entire wing of his luxurious shelter just to house his collection of trophies and ribbons. A high-class pet with exquisite taste, Toby prefers to be seen with long-legged female mates, preferably those bred from Scandinavian lines. Unwilling to rest on his haunches, Toby has no time to hang out at the 19th hole and pet himself on the back—he's got a lot more green grass to frolic across before throwing in the towel.

Now if only we could accumulate a little bit of the wealth that any of these three celebrities have 'n we would be on our way to the Pet Store ta stock up on goodies big time.

So tell me, would ya....do I really look like Simon Cowell??????

It's Dewey Dewster reportin'....we're off to the country for a week...so if ya don't hear from us for awhile, ya know why......
