Over the River and Through the Woods

Hello ta All,

We're about ta celebrate one of the best holidays fer gettin' tagather with family and friends and sharin' an evening of good food and good companionship. We're about ta celebrate Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday, and is a form of harvest festival. The date and whereabouts of the first Thanksgiving celebration is a topic of modest contention. Though the earliest attested Thanksgiving celebration was on September 8, 1565 in what is now Saint Augustine, Florida[1], the traditional "first Thanksgiving" is venerated as having occurred at the site of Plymouth Plantation, in 1621.
Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members.

Now I can tell ya none of us were around in the year 1621 but we still love ta honor the tradition of gettin' tagather with everyone and breakin' bread....'n enjoyin' good fellowship too.

There's a song about gettin' there that we just love ta sing and we thought we would share it with ya all.......here goes......... if ya look close ya might see us and friends in the pictures....

Over the river

and thru the woods,

To grandmother's house we go;

The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh,

Thru the white and drifted snow, oh!

Well, we don't sing real well so here's a bit of the song sung by people who can carry a tune....

Song By The Juke Box Band

************************************

Now we would like ta wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving !!!!!!

Don't eat too much so ya get a tummy ache, but enjoy yer family, friends and good food !!!!

This country is goin' thru some hard times now and so is the rest of the world, but God has blessed us many times over and we're willin' ta share that with ya, all of ya !!!!!!

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on Havin' A Happy Thanksgivin'

Hi Guys!!

Thank You and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, too.

Great post!! I really liked the photos of you guys in the woods with the pumpkin pies. They looked yummy.

Hope you get some turkey and other good stuff to eat. My family is going out for dinner so I won't be getting anything special, just the same of stuff. Cry, cry...

Hi, Dewey...

Thanks for the wonderful post...I loved the pictures of you guys in the woods...

My Mom says that song takes her back a long way...She remembers singing it while her Mom got the turkey ready for the oven & while they waited for everyone to arrive...

Happy Thanksgiving...

Happy Thanksgiving to you all too!! We're doing the same as you -- having the family over for dinner and Mom and Dogdad are sharing the cooking.

We're real happy about the foodables opportunity -- except Mom seems to have moved Jakey's bowl and he is kind of confoosed at the moment!!

Wirey love to you all -- and especially from Mr. Jake to Ms. Asta Marie!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Dewster! My people are going out for the day to my grandparents' house so we'll be sleeping all day. We've been having a little turkey for a while now since Mom got that turkey breast a couple weeks ago. She's got another one in the fridge getting ready to bake so we'll be having our turkey through December I'll bet!

Love
Rudy

Hi Dewey,

Thanks for stopping by. We are safe...so far. Mumbai is more than 1000 kms (600 miles) from Delhi. The news is that the terrorists are still there in three of the buildings (two hotels and one apartment complex.)

This is the biggest terrorist attack on the Indian soil so far. Already more than 110 are declared dead...we hope that the casualties would stop soon. We have some friends and relatives in Mumbai and they are safe.

I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. I hope that you get huge mouthfuls of the Turkey. Standing near Baby Parker's chair is a good idea:)

Take care of the family...Dewey! I hope Toby's ear is better now.
