Caught in a Trap........a Mouse Trap.......

Hey there........all ya bloggies....

We know that we've been outta touch lately but we've been at the cottage again.....'n we still have dialup there but DSL is comin' soon so we may not always be apologizin' after every trip.

We're about to have earthdog tests again in August and so Gram 'n Pap thought we might like ta practice a bit. There are a lot of mice in the garage at the cottage....'n they'll do a peck 'o damage ta the tractor 'n ATVs if we let 'em stay.

So, Pap made a mouse trap that can catch the buggers......'n keep 'em alive til we can try ta catch 'em like we were real earthdogs. Heck....we are REAL EARTHDOGS !!!!!!

There's a ramp goin' up ta the rim of the 5 gallon bucket so the mice don't have ta jump up...they can just walk........there's a rod through the bucket with a soda can (here we really say "POP" but not everyone does so we'll call it soda taday).....'n on the soda can there's peanut butter spread all over cause mice just love peanut butter. The mice walk up the ramp......jump on the can ta get the peanut butter......the can spins....and the mouse lands down in the bottom of the bucket.....'n he can't get out.

Cool, isn't it ????? And it works swell too !!!!!

Pap caught mice fer us just about every day we were there.......'n this is what the little guys looked like before Pap let 'em loose.......

Now I tell ya that bugger ran inta the pipe and just wouldn't come out....'n we knew that he was in there.......'n we wanted him ta come out..........well, take a look.......

Pap got a stick 'n pushed the silly mouse outta the pipe and my Mom pounced on 'em. She shakes 'n shakes them til they don't move anymore.......me ????? I still thought the bugger was in the pipe.....that's why my Mom is a better earthdog than I am.

That bucket still had lots of mouse smells on it 'n I figured that I could rip it apart..........turns out that I couldn't but I still had fun...fun...fun....my Mom got a bit testy with Toby cause he was gettin' in her way........that bark of hers will drive ya nuts.....fer sure.....yes siree......

We have lots more ta show ya but ya would be bored if we put anymore in this post. But we did think ya might want ta see what the cottage looks like since Pap got the porch roof pretty much finished....there's still a bit more ta do but fer the most part it's done.....'n Gram has 'er porch swings up and workin' too......we sure love it.......( biggify it if ya like ta)

We'll catch ya all later........we promise.......

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on Pap's special mouse trap....'n the real earthdogs......

What a fun place that cottage is! Love it! Would love to spend some time there, with or without the mouses. Now I know why you guys like to go up to the cottage so much.

Dewey, mouse hunting is definitely not your sport. Better try something else.

Toby, stay out of Asta's way, if you know what is good for you.

Asta, you go girl!! You are the best!!

Pap, great mouse trap!! You know what they say about he who builds a better mouse trap.

Gram, super job on the video, pics, and post! Well done!

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

Wow whatta mouse trap you guys have! I'll have to get Mom to make one just like that -- we're fresh out of rats -- old Tweak died this week, dead and buried so we need a new playmate. Mom's not in a hurry to get us a new one but little Ollie needs practice on rats. He helped Josie and me grab a big rabbit in the back yard a couple of weeks ago. Was that ever fun! (MOM: oh yes, taking what was left to the woods was a lot of fun too...)

Mom didn't realize she entered me, Josie, and Emmy in a big agility trials on the 15th and 16th so we can't come to see you do Earthdog.
She is so dumb sometimes. She promises maybe we can go up for the October one... maybe... So we're looking forward to hearing all about it in a couple of weeks!
Get those rats!!!

Love,
Rudy
(if you see Pippin, Jeep, or Drake up there say hi!)

I wouldn't have come out of that tube either. My goodness. Into the jaws of death.

I actually thought the battle of the barrel was the most exciting movie of the three. Your mom really knows how to put Toby in his place.

P.S. Momma says watching your enthusiasm makes her miss Grandpa Angus.

Wagging to see you all square pals! Doing the happy dance for you too.

Now I watched the mouse stuff but ooo the terrierble shame. I still don't get thet prey driving stuffie. But oh boy, the bucket chasing looks WICKED!!! Would join you all in that for sure even with Asta screeching in the background..crickey you two need ear plugs or you'll be deaf before you're four.

Oooo Mom fell in love with your cottage (no need to be jelly she has always loved you squaries too!) The cute porch with the swing and your flag a billowing in the breeze. The pretty colours and the shingly wooden things. I conic A Merry Car she says.(I'll just go and look that up in my bookie.)

Wiry wags n kisses Eric xxx

I don't get to rat-rat much, but I'm a good possum hunter...when Mom's not looking. She's a bit squeamish.

We really loved watching you three fuzzybums taking your mice so seriously. Dewey, we were laughing so hard when your mom had the mouse and you were still looking in the pipe! My goodness, she's fast! And loud. Toby's soon going to need a hearing aid!!

The cottage is just beautiful and Pap did a great job on the porch. Gram must be so happy with her swing. What a beautiful place to spend the summer - no wonder you're still there. I bet you never want to go home!

Good luck with your Earthdog tests.

That was an ingenious way of getting those mice for the Earthdog competition:)
Good to hear that you are going to get a faster Internet connection at the cottage...you'll need it - the Dog COM project is going online soon, and I don't want you to miss any of it:)
