Window Watchin', Holidays and Candy Makin'

Hi Ya !!!!

Here I am on my throne lookin' down on all my subjects. But I just wanted ta share some of what has been goin' on around here the past week.

We love ta get up on Gram's cedar chest ta look out the bedroom window. Ya can see so much when yer so high up lookin' down ta the front street. There's my Mom checkin' out ta make sure there are no intruders about ta come in.

She's very intense when she's checkin' out the world below.

Now, from this perch, we can see the side alley. Ya know, people try ta come up that alley and get onta the front street. And me 'n Toby have ta tell 'em that we don't want 'em ta do that.


Sometimes my Mom gets cold and Gram covers 'er up so she's nice and cozy. She also likes ta use the people pillows fer her head. Doesn't she look comfy ???
Now here's baby Parker on Thanksgivin' Day. It was a bit cold that day and he was all bundled up in his Winter hat and coat. It looks ta me like he can't move at all with all those clothes on.
And here's what the diningroom table looked like on Thanksgivin' before all the guests sat down ta eat. Gram didn't take a picture once everyone was seated cause she was too busy gettin' things delivered ta the table. There were 9 of us eatin' here on Thanksgivin'.
Now that the Thanksgivin' crowd is gone, Gram had started makin' her Christmas candy. Here's some of what she had finished the other day. Chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows, turtles, raisin clusters and peanut clusters and chocolate covered Oreos. Gram made additional varieties last night and has a few more ta make before it's all done.
Once all the candy is done, Gram makes up candy boxes fer all the people who look forward ta it every year. She always says it takes longer ta put together the boxes than it does ta make the candy. And now ya can't see the tablecloth anymore on the diningroom table cause the table is full of the chocolate candy. Good thing no one wants ta eat there again til Christmas.

Can ya believe we never get ta taste any of that chocolate ? None, nada.....no fair, I say......how can chocolate not be good fer doggies but be good fer the hoomans ????

Well, that's all fer now guys. We sure had a great week......hope yers was good too....

Over the River and Through the Woods

Hello ta All,

We're about ta celebrate one of the best holidays fer gettin' tagather with family and friends and sharin' an evening of good food and good companionship. We're about ta celebrate Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday, and is a form of harvest festival. The date and whereabouts of the first Thanksgiving celebration is a topic of modest contention. Though the earliest attested Thanksgiving celebration was on September 8, 1565 in what is now Saint Augustine, Florida[1], the traditional "first Thanksgiving" is venerated as having occurred at the site of Plymouth Plantation, in 1621.
Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members.

Now I can tell ya none of us were around in the year 1621 but we still love ta honor the tradition of gettin' tagather with everyone and breakin' bread....'n enjoyin' good fellowship too.

Terrier Troubles

Hi there....

We thought we'd show ya the good stuff first....then the stuff we didn't really want ya ta hear about...

There's Baby Parker again....lookin' like a little boy instead of such a baby. He has an argyle sweater on and chinos....just like his Daddy wears...what a big boy he's gettin' ta be....he's even crawlin' now...good boy....

Gram thought ya might want ta see her confused Christmas cactus....it's in full bloom right now and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. Somethin' tells us it won't be bloomin' on Christmas...no siree....

It got as cold as a Witch's T_ t around here lately and the last time we left the cottage we had no idea it would be so cold so soon and we didn't drain the hot water tank and take other steps ta make sure it survived until our next visit. Since it was gettin' inta the teens at night we made a unscheduled trip up there and spent the night ta drain that tank.

There was a bit of snow there 'n Pap was shovelin' it and that makes Toby 'n me crazy. I tried ta re-arrange his ear a bit and it got pretty mangled up. I felt real bad after it happened but I was real mad when I did it and then it was too late. I hope Toby's ear heals real fast.......see him and his bandage.....

I was so upset I hurt Toby so bad that I curled up in the toybox at the cottage and went ta sleep.....my Mom always does that......not me. 'N if ya look closely at me ya might see that I have one of my ears plastered ta my head...... can ya believe that ???? I was scratchin' my ear so much it was bloody 'n that just made it more itchy....so I scratched some more....'n Gram put socks on me and I just took 'em off. So she super-glued my ear ta my head. Now I hope all my friends report her ta the Super-glue people cause I know that's not what yer supposed ta do with it at all.

It somehow came unglued taday so she glued it back again.....that's 2 crimes fer ya all ta report fer me.......

Gee, we're under the weather here....except fer my Mom....who has 2 good ears. So we hope ya all have a great weekend....'n we hope the weather warms up soon.

A Week in Our Life

The Election is Over

We would like ta congratulate President Elect Barack Obama who has won the Presidential election in the United States fair 'n square........he didn't even tug fer the honor. We hope that he can get this country back on track and out of this recession we're in.....cause then the rest of the world will follow...... and everyone wants the whole world ta be prosperous 'n happy too......'n we want more goodies fer the doggies too.......

The Passing of a Friend

We would like ta sent our thoughts 'n prayers ta Eli in Singapore cause that little fur-ball hamster, Girl Girl, has left us all 'n gone ta the Rainbow Bridge. We hope that Bae Bae can help to fill some of the void that Girl Girl's passing has left.

We will always remember her and love her........sleep peacefully our friend.......or should we say play tirelessly with those who left before you.......

Well, Hello there !!!!!!!!


Bet ya thought we were never comin' back.....didn't ya ????? Thought we were stuck in the wilderness.....buried under 12 feet of snow... without power, water and a way out. Well, sorry ta disappoint ya but we were just not doin' anything very interestin' and so we decided ta take a week or so off and get ourselves tagether again. It didn't work.....we're still not tagether but we're here anyway.

We were watchin' Pap work on the new porch roof at the cottage at our window perch.

We had a few nice warm Indian Summer days and then the rain and snow came....but this time it didn't lay much and it didn't turn off the power either. But we decided to just leave the rest of the finishing work for warmer weather and head for home again.

Here's what the cottage looks like with the new porch roof partway finished......we're gonna love it !!!!

Back in the Burgh again, I decided ta rest in my under-the-table bed. This is one of many beds for us around the house and we just love 'em.......

Then Gram was workin' 'round the house....movin' furniture and she found a veritable treasure trove of goodies for us. All the hooves that we just loved had gotten themselves behind the furniture and we couldn't find 'em. But once we discovered 'em again....we just had the best time chewin' 'em again.

Me 'n my hoof......

Ya gotta get right down 'n chew 'em up......

It helps ta clean yer teeth fer sure.....so chew....chew....chew....

But...........then I discovered my red lobster and had ta have it.........

Just cause I had it Toby wanted it....what a Baby he is.....always wantin' stuff that belongs ta me.....he grabbed it and started ta tug.......

Too bad ya can't hear all the growlin' that goes along with the tuggin' .....it woulda scared ya fer sure......

No one won the battle and as I bid ya all a wonderful evening.....I leave ya with a partin' shot of my tongue....Toby wishes he had one as perfect as mine.....

So we hope ya all have a great weekend and that ya all get yer own hoof.....they are sure smelly as anythin' when they get wet......but we still LOVE "EM.......

The Best Laid Plans.........

Well.....hello ta all.....


We thought we were gonna stay at the cottage fer a week until election day 'n get a roof up over the front deck.........

Boy, were we wrong........ Pap went ta Tidioute on Tuesday ta buy some wood and we figured that we would get started on the roof by Thursday cause they were callin' fer some snow Tuesday night and Wednesday....... But nice weather on Thursday and Friday.

Well, we got snow all right...between 6 and 8 inches and it was wet 'n heavy and it brought down a ton of trees and the electric lines with 'em. Our power went out thru the night Tuesday and Wednesday it was still off and Thursday mornin' we decided ta empty the refrigerator before everythin' spoiled and head home. The power never came on until sometime Friday morning.

'N Toby was enjoyin' himself at the cottage too cause he gets ta run around like a nut there. Here he is lookin' like he owns the place.

Our Halloween Visitor

This is Parker's first Halloween and even though he didn't really know what Halloween was all about, he got dressed up anyway and stopped over ta show us what he looked like.

He was a turtle and ain't he a cute one ????? We would never look that cute all dressed up.

But now before we left the cottage, me 'n Toby got ta tuggin' and Gram got ta videoin'..... Actually we were practicin' our growlin' just in case they ever need any action heroes that make growl noises real well. Tell us what ya think........

Bet ya were scared weren't ya ????? Now tell the truth...... those growl noises were perfect...... weren't they ?????? Gonna scare the pants off anyone who ventures by fer sure....yes siree.....

Yep, 'n my Mom had ta come over ta make sure her little boy child didn't need any help or rescued either. A stare from her put the brakes on any further growlin' 'n tuggin' too.......

Well, we're headed back ta the cottage after the election so we hope this tides ya all over til we get back.

The Season Comes Ta An End My Friends

Gee Whizz Everyone....

Doesn't it seem like the summer just flew by......one day we were sweatin'... the next day we were freezin'.......well, now it seems like we're just gonna be freezin'.....at least fer the near future anyway.

Now last Sunday it was still pretty nice....in the low fifties and sunny...but windy....and we had our last earthdog practice and meetin'.....So off we went ta the Donegal exit of the Pa. Turnpike ta get ta earthdog and have some fun, fun, fun....

Now we didn't get inta costumes so we're not in the pictures but there were some doggies who were dressed up and they looked pretty cute too.

Hope ya enjoy it......we're back at the cottage again fer a week and so we might not be around ta visit much since it take about 15 minutes fer one blog page ta load there with the tin-can dialup service. Happy Double Barkday....Asta Marie & Dewey

Hello ta all of Blogland....

Dewey Dewster here....
Guess what ??? Me 'n my Mom have October Barkdays......Mom's barkday is October 15th and mine is October 31. Yeah, I know a Halloween baby.....I'm not gettin' dressed up fer it either....no siree....

But Gram decided ta celebrate in between the two days and so this morning we had our Barkday Party complete with cupckes and party hats .........

And dog biscuits too......added fer that special doggie touch.......



Gram made us wait ta eat so she could get a picture of us before we dug inta the goodies and messed up our hats.....


And so we all got to eat the yummy cupcakes. Now ya may notice that Gram started ta sing the Happy Barkday song fer us but her bein' old 'n all fergot it's Happy Barkday not Happy Birthday......geez, ya gotta watch those old ones all the time.........they just can' get with the program at all.....

Well, if ya noticed, Toby just loves ta eat goodies....heck Toby, just loves ta eat anythin' at all so he was in 7th heaven and wishes we could have these parties more than twice a year. Truth be told....so do me 'n my Mom.......we have ta work on arrangin' that fer sure.......

Fer the super-easy 'n super-delicious icing, here's the recipe....
Super Special Icing
1 brick of cream cheese softened
1 8 oz. container of cool whip defrosted
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Whip all ingredients in bowl with electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Spread on your favorite cake or cupcakes. Yummy......

Yep, we're hoping we get ta celebrate more Barkdays in the very near future. Maybe we can celebrate with Baby Parker in February. Now that's somethin' ta look forward to.
