Catchin' Up on News........

Hi every Bloggie....

A lot has happened the past week or so and I finally got Gram ta sit down fer a spell so she could help us tell ya all about it.

Last Saturday and Sunday were the Earthdog tests and my Mom was entered inta Senior Earthdog cause she got her Junior title last year. 'N I was entered inta Junior Earthdog again cause last year I didn't do nothin' last year....nope, not a thing....had ta take the test all over again.....nerve wrackin' fer sure.....

So off we went on Saturday on the Pa. Turnpike ta get ta Woodside......'n guess what happened???? Just as we got onta the turnpike, the car got sick....it wouldn't go....'n this is what happened ta us.....

Can ya imagine us there in the car all by our lonesome....wonderin' if we were gonna get ta Woodside alive while the car is goin' down the road without anyone at the wheel.....scary.....yes siree.... downright scary fer sure.... (it was a transmission collant hose that broke, scary but not fatal)

We had ta call brother Scott ta pick us up at the car dealer where the car was towed and take us ta our house ta get the other car 'n then we were back on the road on the way ta Donegal. Finally we arrived at Woodside just in time fer the tests.

Gram was pretty busy since we were late gettin' there 'n she didn't have time ta take any more pictures cause my test place was different from my Mom's 'n she had ta run back 'n forth....

Now I wanna tell ya that it was really hot both Saturday and Sunday and they had little kiddie pools set up so the doggies could cool off cause chasin' rats in a tunnel is hard work. This is me in our pool at the cottage but ya get the idea........

Now before I tell ya what happened those 2 days, just remember that I did tell ya that my Mom is a better earthdog than I am and so ya sure won't be surprised ta see what she got last Saturday and Sunday.....

Those 2 ribbons are fer Senior Earthdog.....ya have ta pass the Senior Earthdog test 3 times so my Mom has ta pass it one more time ta get 'er Senior Earthdog title. But see how many ribbons she already has......sheesh.....looks like a friggin' monument doesn't it?????
I can tell ya none of those ribbons are fer me......

Why, ya may ask ????

Well, because I did the same thin' this year that I did last year......

What's that ????

Why, nothin'....not a thing...nada.....I laid a bunch of eggs......I was afraid of the earthdog judge...'n I didn't want ta go inta the tunnel when the judge was at the end of it. Even more frightenin' is the fact that the stop watch they use makes a noise that sounds like the warnin' beep on our electric fence collars....'n once I heard that I wanted outta there pronto........scat man Dewey.......

Gram says I need a new name.....can't use Dewey Dewster anymore....nope....need ta be called Dewey the Dudd or Dewey the Dunce........got me a dunce cap which I thought was rather stylish....don't ya think ????? But I wanted ta know what a dunce was so I got on Gram's computer 'n googled it ta see what kinda guy I was gonna be from now on.....

DUNCE

Dunce
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dunce is a person incapable of learning.

The word is derived from the name of the great Scholastic theologian and philosopher John Duns Scotus, whose works on logic, theology and philosophy were accepted textbooks in the universities from the 14th century. Duns or Dunsman was a name applied by early opponents to the followers of Duns Scotus, who were less disparagingly called the Scotists. Hence the term came to refer to anyone devoted to sophistry in their argumentation. When, in the 16th century, the Scotists obstinately opposed the new learning (i.e., the English Renaissance), the term duns or dunce became, in the mouths of the humanists and reformers, a term of abuse, a synonym for one incapable of scholarship. Dunces are often comedically shown wearing paper cone hats, known as dunce caps, with the word "dunce" or "dumb", or simply a capitalized "D" on them. Schoolchildren were sometimes compelled to wear a dunce cap and to sit in a stool in the corner as a form of humiliating punishment for misbehaving or for failing to demonstrate that they had properly performed their studies.

Sheesh, It sounds like I'm not ever gonna learn how ta go inta the tunnel while that judge is sittin' there.

I sure don't want ta be Dewey the dunce....nope....no siree....not in a million years.

What can I do so that I'm not afraid of the earthdog judge ????? HELP me guys.....I can't let my Mom make me look like a schmuck here........

One last thing......Pap 'n Gram took Parker 'n my fur Dad, Fred....'n my fur brother George down ta the playground by their house......do ya think we all look alike ??? Do I favor my Dad more than my bro ????? My Dad is the one on the right....

Well, I guess I better start searchin the web on ways ta be more like my Mom so I can get some ribbons like hers......now what key-word search do I use fer that??????

This is Dewey the Dunce reportin' on earthdog ribbons, our sick car.. 'n my new name....

Have a great week everyone !!!!!!!

Snake 'n the Grass.......'N Divin' Fer Bass......

Hi Ta Everyone.....

While we were at the cottage on our last visit, Pap took a wheel barrel full of split wood ta the back of the house so it would be ready fer the cold weather......cause we mostly use the wood stove ta heat the cottage.

Once he unloaded the wood, he found a snake in the wheel barrel and my Mom just loves ta chase snakes so he brought it ta the front of the cottage. Gram has seen this kind of snake before and it's called a ring neck snake. My Mom doesn't care what it's called, she just loves ta chase 'em.....

See what happens ta the snake.....

Don't ya wonder how the buggers move along like that without any legs? But they're real sneaky....yep, just like a snake in the grass..... poor snake....he's history now cause my Mom shook 'em too much.

Pap was splittin' all that wood....'n Toby always loves ta play with big logs....he grabbed one of the split logs and ran off with it. Here's what he did with it ...........
===============================

===============================

We just love ta go inta the water. So Gram 'n Pap took us up ta Keller's Lake ta try ta catch some fish....some rocks in the water....'n some sticks.......'n ta cool off too......

Here's what Keller's Lake looks like....pretty isn't it ???

Then we got ta go inta the water and got ta enjoy ourselves some...watch 'n see what we got ta do....

My Mom always likes ta bring balls back when ya throw 'em.......we never really went inta the water where it was deep til this trip....ya might get ta see us paddlin' along.......'n ya might see my Mom bring back a stick....

Boy, ya think my Mom knows more about stick fetchin' than I do ???? Nope.....no siree.....just watch me bring back that stick ta Gram........that's me....Dewey Dewster....Master stick fetcher extraordinaire..........

Well....now that ya got ta see how good I am at bringin' back the stick....ya know why everyone thinks I'm so special....don't ya..????

'N now ya know why we love ta go ta the cottage so much......we love it there cause there is lots of room ta run 'n play......'n places ta swim....'n vermin that needs my Mom ta teach it that it shouldn't be there at all....

Yep.....that's North Western Pennsylvania at it finest........'n Dewey Dewster at his best......

Almost fergot baby Parker.....maybe we should say big boy Parker now........

Caught in a Trap........a Mouse Trap.......

Hey there........all ya bloggies....

We know that we've been outta touch lately but we've been at the cottage again.....'n we still have dialup there but DSL is comin' soon so we may not always be apologizin' after every trip.

We're about to have earthdog tests again in August and so Gram 'n Pap thought we might like ta practice a bit. There are a lot of mice in the garage at the cottage....'n they'll do a peck 'o damage ta the tractor 'n ATVs if we let 'em stay.

So, Pap made a mouse trap that can catch the buggers......'n keep 'em alive til we can try ta catch 'em like we were real earthdogs. Heck....we are REAL EARTHDOGS !!!!!!

There's a ramp goin' up ta the rim of the 5 gallon bucket so the mice don't have ta jump up...they can just walk........there's a rod through the bucket with a soda can (here we really say "POP" but not everyone does so we'll call it soda taday).....'n on the soda can there's peanut butter spread all over cause mice just love peanut butter. The mice walk up the ramp......jump on the can ta get the peanut butter......the can spins....and the mouse lands down in the bottom of the bucket.....'n he can't get out.

Cool, isn't it ????? And it works swell too !!!!!

Pap caught mice fer us just about every day we were there.......'n this is what the little guys looked like before Pap let 'em loose.......

Now I tell ya that bugger ran inta the pipe and just wouldn't come out....'n we knew that he was in there.......'n we wanted him ta come out..........well, take a look.......

Pap got a stick 'n pushed the silly mouse outta the pipe and my Mom pounced on 'em. She shakes 'n shakes them til they don't move anymore.......me ????? I still thought the bugger was in the pipe.....that's why my Mom is a better earthdog than I am.

That bucket still had lots of mouse smells on it 'n I figured that I could rip it apart..........turns out that I couldn't but I still had fun...fun...fun....my Mom got a bit testy with Toby cause he was gettin' in her way........that bark of hers will drive ya nuts.....fer sure.....yes siree......

We have lots more ta show ya but ya would be bored if we put anymore in this post. But we did think ya might want ta see what the cottage looks like since Pap got the porch roof pretty much finished....there's still a bit more ta do but fer the most part it's done.....'n Gram has 'er porch swings up and workin' too......we sure love it.......( biggify it if ya like ta)

We'll catch ya all later........we promise.......

Goin' With The Flow............

Hi ta all.........

We sure didn't disappear or anythin' but we've been outta comission in the blog world fer sure.

We blame it on Gram.....'n we're lookin' fer another new Gram right now ta take 'er place 'cause we need someone ta help us with the blog that isn't as busy.......

Know anyone willin' ta accept the job ?

Anyway, we don't have much ta report except fer our last trip ta the cottage. The camera person hasn't been using' the camera like she should be.....I won't mention any names but I think ya know who I mean........

We went fer a walk and my Mom got all muddy layin' in a mud puddle. So that meant that the pool got out and we all got ta get wet with the hose.......

We all love ta jump at the hose and that water is really COLD too cause we have a well there.....

But there's nothin' like a refreshin' romp in the cold water ta get yer blood flowin'........

Now for those of ya that want ta see us in action.....here it is........watch closely cause we move FAST..........

And then when we got home, Ross Township had their holiday fireworks goin' on and we have a Birdseye view from the back deck......so Gram did take a few pictures of the display.....

Gee, we're sure sorry that we haven't been around lately. I did sit Gram down a spell and had a talk with 'er but I'm not sure if we have an agreement ta do better yet or not........we may have ta go ta arbitration........we'll keep ya posted on any progress we make......

But have a great weekend and I promise we will be around ta visit soon.....

We Love Earthdog

Hi ta all....

Taday we hopped on the Pa. Turnpike and got off at Donegal and went ta have some more earthdog fun.

My Mom gets excited when we get off the turnpike and even more excited when we turn onta the road ta Woodside.....Earthdog Heaven.......

The view from Woodside is breath-takin'...ya can see ferever.......

Mr Rat is always there when we're there fer earthdog fun and this Westie is checkin' 'em out.....

People are lined up at the Intro to Earthdog tunnels ta see if their dogs are interested in chasin' a rat in a tunnel.....

There were a few new people there this weekend and they got ta meet Mr Rat......when a terrier meets Mr Rat....all they want ta do is get 'em......... ya almost have ta feel sorry fer the rat....notice I say ALMOST..............

Now this Cairn Terrier is tellin' Mr Rat just what he thinks of 'em bein' around Woodside....

Then there's Parker again.......he was over ta our house with his Mum 'n Dad and he got onta the little ATV that I thought was mine but he thought it was his......guess what ???? It is his.......

He likes ta find out about his new toys all by himself.........

One more thing.........Gram has had this Hoya plant fer probably 30 years and until lately it never bloomed. Gram likes ta start new plants from pieces of the ones she has and everytime she would give a hoya away that she started from this one, the recipient would say "You didn't tell me that it bloomed ". 'N Gram always said that her's never did. Now she has one of those waterin' globes in there and the Hoya is bloomin' up a storm.....FINALLY......

Well, that 's all fer now folks......
We hope ya all have a swell week.....

Diggin' Tunnels and Pullin' Guard Duty

Hi ta all.......

We were at the cottage again fer a spell with that dialup stuff 'n Gram just can't handle dialup at all. So we were just not usin' the computer at all there........
I can tell ya we didn't see any porcupines this trip........ 'n we're sure happy about that. They were horrible monsters.....fer sure......

But I tell ya.....we saw somethin' movin in a pile of rocks near the edge of the woods. My Mom was over there scoutin' around and we wanted ta see what was in there. So Gram let us all go over ta catch the vermin in the rocks.....

Why, even Toby wanted ta be in on the search.....look at 'em go......... why I tell ya... it almost seems like he wants ta dig an earthdog tunnel fer all of us......

Of course my Mom's shrill bark scared anythin' away that was hidin' in there. We're sure the vermin ran 2 miles away after hearin' her scream like a banshee.........

**************************************

Back in "Da Burgh".........

Remember we told ya all about those burglars that are prowlin' around just waitin' ta steal our toys ?????

Well........I was sure I saw one tryin' ta get inta our house........

Why....he was frightenin'.....fer sure......

Imagine this guy gettin' inta our house and stealin' our toys........
I had ta run ta get my favorite toy ta guard it so that it wasn't stolen.............

I stuck my head inta the toy ta make sure if it left the house....I was goin' with it.......

No siree.....there wasn't any burglar goin' ta get my toy away from me.........

I held onta it fer dear life........

I think I scared 'em away..........do ya think it's safe now ta let it go now?????? Well, I'm not lettin' it outta my sight.......

Let that be a lesson ta all burglars tryin' ta get inta our toys......
WE WILL NOT STAND FER IT.....AT ALL......FER SURE........
**********************************************************
Oh yeah......
'N Momo and Pinot had asked us a while back ta see some pictures of baby Parker....'n we kept fergettin'.....
Here's a little video that was taken in early April.....we'll try ta get more soon.......

We have ta make sure Parker doesn't try ta play with OUR toys.....that he only plays with HIS toys......Imagine us all gettin' locked out of the house so Parker could play by himself........the indignity of it all......

Gee, we are sure sorry we were away fer so long.......we'll be around ta visit soon......

Teachin' Thursday

Hi all ya bloggies.....

Taday is teachin' Thursday and I was teachin Toby how ta be scary....ya know like a vampire is scary ?

So I thought I would teach 'em all the fine points of bein' real scary so that the criminal peepers would be afraid of 'em.....'n me too.....

With the economy bein' the way it is, crime is way up. More and more homes are bein' broken inta by thieves and valuables are bein' stolen.

Now, we need ta put a stop ta that. .....fer sure......

Ya all know that the first thing a thief would do if he broke inta our house is steal all our toys. Why, that would be awful.....yes siree........

So we need ta protect those toys cause they are the only valuables we have. So ya have ta learn ta be fierce........be an attack monster.........why ???.... so ya can protect what's yers....

Now ya can tell that I was scarin' Toby plenty.....couldn't ya????

Those growlin' noises ya heard were comin' from me......So if an intruder is tryin' ta get inta our house, me 'n Toby can sure scare 'em away. Don't ya think so ???? And wasn't I a great teacher ???

************************************************************

Spring has sprung and it has been pretty colorful around here in Southwestern Pa.

So Gram took a bunch of colorful pictures of 'er flowers as they were bloomin'.

We wanted ta share that with ya taday.
Cause that teaches ya all about all the pretty colors that we have around here.

Hope ya like it.

I think I'm gonna like Teachin' Thursday.....how about ya ????

Have a wonderful weekend everyone !!!!!!

This is Dewey Dewster reportin' on Teachin' Thursday..........
